2009 Crazy 618 Football Predictions

OK, last year, on Illinois High School Sports Forums, I said that Du Quoin, Casey-Westfield and also East St. Louis would play their way into a championship game.

Here is this years crazy things that I am already throwing out there.

- Sparta is going to be a playoff team. (If they can stay away from the injury bug, they are not too deep)
- Du Quoin is going to be even better than last year team. (Not necessarily better results, but overall might be a better rounded team).
- Murphy will be improved. They will be sneaking up on people... but due to schedule, will most likely fall short of the playoffs.

There you go, throwing something out there pre-summer just to see how it looks by the end of the year.

Football season is right around the corner. Some local 618 grads are just finishing up football in the arena league, the af2. Nick Hill (Du Quoin - SIUC Salukis) for the Rio Grande Valley Dorados and Brad Kuntz (Caryle - Miami U.) and Luke Drone (Mt. Carmel - Illinois State University Redbirds) for the Peoria Pirates.

The af2 doesn't pay much, but lets hope that it is a spring board for these guys to get their name out there.
